Over the years I have been lucky enough to photograph hundreds of new little cuties and I cherish each and every one. A few times a year I get to experience a “first” along with these little ones during their first photo shoot. This session was my first time photographing a baby that was yet to be named! I absolutely love the naming process and everything that goes into it for each and every family. We realize how our kiddos will carry this name through their lives and it will be such a huge part of their identity. This sweet 5 day old baby girl was born at home with her adoring family who have yet to decide on this very very important part of her story. I am still on pins and needles waiting to find out and will update the post when I do! Here are a few favorite images from our session…it was so hard to choose!

Baby In Hanging Scale

I have such a soft spot for a newborn baby in a hanging scale or laying on a scale, it is so amazing how little they start out. I of course love to go minimal with no props as well, a baby curled up into sweet poses on a beanbag is just as great! Newborn Baby In Wood BowlI have tried out a few wooden and dough bowls over the years and I really love this new one. It is very heavy and natural looking and this little cutie let me get her into a very sweet pose up there. Newborn Baby In Doll BedI was given this baby doll bed by a friend a few months back. It was a dark wood and looked very masculine so I sanded and painted it this Robin’s Egg Blue so that it would work for my little girl and boy babies. It was so fun to put big sister in the photo too, they have such a cute bond already! I love the result! Newborn Baby In Doll Bed With Sister Newborn Family PhotosThere were so many photos that I loved of this wonderful family doting on their newest member so I decided to do a “newborn with family collage”! I love the result and Mama did a great job with wardrobe so it is just that much more spectacular! Thank you Victoria! Newborn Baby In Jiu-Jitsu UniformDaddy is a Jiu Jitsu black belt so we had to get this photo of her with his gear. I hope the Gracie Family enjoys this one! Newborn and Sister Baby Buddy CarriageAnd last but not least, a few more sister photos. Valyn is already a wonderful big sister and was a trooper during our session. Thank you guys again for sharing your family with me, it was such a pleasure to meet you all and share in this special time!

I know, I have been super bad about the blog but I just couldn’t keep McKinley May all to myself, I had to share! My good friends and neighbors were sweet enough to let me get to know and photograph their baby daughter this past week. I had so much fun trying out a few new props and concepts I have been working on. Here are the results…

Newborn Baby In Army HelmetI thought this shot was especially fitting for this Memorial Day weekend. McKinley’s Daddy brought out his helmet and boots for his new little lady. Who doesn’t love a sweet soft newborn baby with Daddy’s military gear…love it! Newborn Baby In Gerber CrateThis Gerber crate is a newly acquired prop from the Rose Bowl Swap meet. This little girl is definitely a “Gerber Baby”, so adorable! Newborn Baby On Iron Doll BedI usually photograph this bed with the princess and the pea blankets which I love but this more simplified version was really beautiful! Newborn Baby On SwingOk so drumroll…I have been drilling holes, staining wood, and clamping rope for a couple of weeks now and have made 3 of these swings. This was my first test and I love the result. McKinley was the perfect model and didn’t budge up there, she was wonderful! I even got to put a new material behind her…love my dandelions! Newborn Baby PosingAfter all of the fun sets and backdrops, it was nice to finish it off with some  simple, timeless, and gorgeous shots of McKinley in all her sweetness. Who doesn’t love these poses: the tushie, taco, side and the beloved frog pose”!

Thank you again for sharing your gorgeous little lady with me! Love you guys! XOXO

Another amazing name for a gorgeous baby boy! Brody’s Mommy and Daddy invited me out to their stunning home in December to capture the newest member of the family. I was greeted by not only Mom, Dad, and Big Sister, but Auntie, Grandma and Grandpa from back east. I couldn’t have felt more at home with this happy loving family. I was lucky enough to be offered some of Grandma’s famous homemade butternut squash soup…soooo tasty! It was such a wonderful treat on a very busy fall shoot day.

All of my families with multiple siblings are a little bit nervous about how older brother or sister will be with the baby during our session but Poppy couldn’t have been better with her new little brother. She was super sweet and took direction very well. It helped very much to have family there to coach her along.

Thank you all so much for being so wonderful and allowing me to capture this special time for you!

I am so incredibly lucky to be referred, every time I get a referral from a client it really touches me and is the highest compliment I could ever be paid.  I am so thankful that my clients think enough of me to pass my name on to their family and friends. This is exactly how I was lucky enough to photograph some of the first moments for beautiful little Vivienne. Mom and Dad were so wonderful, warm and welcoming and trusted me completely to capture their beautiful little girls. Big sister Sevana was stunning and was such a good sport for our session, I realize that having a new little one can be such a big change for siblings, but she handled it like a pro. These two are sure to be best friends! Thank you so much for sharing your little ones with me guys, enjoy those little dolls!
